The List Policy

Before posting anything to the list, please take a moment to read a few ground rules:

  1. Keep all postings on topic. Off topic postings should be taken off the list whenever possible. If off topic postings unavoidable, please add "(OT)" (without quotes) in the subject line.
  2. Always send your postings to as plain text email. While you might use the most advanced Windoze based email client, some of list members may use email clients which can't display advanced email formats.
  3. Do not send attachments to the list. If you want to share a freeware or shareware, please upload it to a FTP or Web site, then send the URL to the list.
  4. Keep commercial postings and self-promotional advertising off the list.
  5. Expect a diverse collection of people on the list. Be patient and polite. Remember there is a person on the other end of your flame!
  6. All of the members can contribute. Typically most people on a list are "lurkers". The more participation we get the more fun we can have.
  7. IMPORTANT: When replying to a posting, please DO NOT quote the entire posting back to the list. Selectively delete unnecessary quotes and leave just enough text to allow the rest of us to follow the conversation.
  8. Do not send any list server commands to the list address. Always send your commands to the list server address at listserv@softcon.com

Why I Receive Digests?

New subscribers will receive digests, because this list was set with MIME digests as default subscription option for your convenience. The digest version is faster to download. Useful if you just want to "listening-in" to this list at your leisure.

If your email client can't handle MIME digests (or too slow for them), you could choose traditional (NoMIME) digest instead. Reading postings will also easier.

To receive postings in traditional digests, send an email:

----
To: listserv@softcon.com
Subject: [ignored]
Body of the message:

set survpc nomime digests
----

If you decide to actively participate in this list, replying will be more promptly if you receive postings as individual emails.

To receive postings as individual emails, send an email:

----
To: listserv@softcon.com
Subject: [ignored]
Body of the message:

set survpc nodigest
----

Replying Digests

IMPORTANT - When replying a traditional digest to the list:

Bounced Mail Policy

Emails sent to your address could bounced back to the list server. This usually caused by either temporary or permanent problem at your ISP. In order to keep the list clean, the moderator will take this action for members with bounced email address:

Spam Precautions

Anyone allowed to read the list archives. To protect your email address from possible spammer's address spider, eGroups archiver always mangled all email addresses in your post before put it to the website.

To further protect your identity and email address, both archiver and list server member list are disabled by default. Even list members not allowed to access this information.
